In an exciting development for science fiction and technology fans alike, legendary director and writer George Lucas announced that the complete Star Wars collection will be released on Blu-ray format.

This will allow Star Wars fans to enjoy the titles in full high-definition for the first time since the original title ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ was released in 1977.

The Star Wars Blu-ray Box Set will feature all six Star Wars feature films utilising the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with extensive special features which will include documentaries, vintage behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, retrospectives and never-before-seen footage from the Lucasfilm archives.

"Blu-ray is the absolute best way to experience Star Wars at home – in pristine high definition," said George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga. "The films have never looked or sounded better."

Currently there has been no official confirmation on pricing or release date.

As self confessed Star Wars fans we at TechSmart are certainly excited about this development. You can be sure that this box set will feature prominently on our Christmas lists, provided it is released in time.
