The co-founders of micro-blogging site Twitter have revealed the details behind their latest internet project dubbed Branch. This new Branch website aims to establish a “new platform for dialogue on the web”.

According to CNet, Branch is a partnership between its developers Josh Miller, Cemre Gungore, as well as Hursh Agrawal, and The Obvious Corporation. The Obvious Corporation was founded by Twitter co-founders Biz Stone, Evan Williams, as well as the social networking company’s former product chief Jason Goldman.

“The prototype, called Branch (formerly Roundtable), enables a smart new brand of high quality public discourse. Curated groups of people are invited to engage around issues in which they are knowledgeable,” Biz Stone, co–founder and chief creative officer of The Obvious Corporation posted on his firm’s blog.

“Many of us know the internet as a seemingly limitless source of information, but information is not knowledge. We’d like to see the web evolve to a point where we get smarter when we spend time engaging [with others],” Stone elaborated.

Stone stated that The Obvious Corporation is joining forces with Branch to assist it with technology, product design, branding, marketing, as well as numerous other aspects.

In related news, Twitter recently announced the availability of updated versions of both Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android.
