Twitter wants to be everywhere
By Thomas McKinnon 16 March 2010 | Categories: newsTwitter CEO Evan Williams announced plans to release a new Twitter platform in the near future, “@anywhere”, which will integrate Twitter tools and functionality directly on media partners’ websites.
Speaking at the South by Southwest Interactive conference, held in the US, Williams said content "[d]iscovery is one of the hardest challenges." The @anywhere platform is designed to allow users to enjoy the “Twitter experience anywhere on the Web,” Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, noted in a blog post on the announcement.
Launch sites for the new platform include Amazon, AdAge, Bing, Citysearch, Digg, eBay, The Huffington Post, Meebo, MSNBC.com, The New York Times, Salesforce.com, Yahoo!, and YouTube. Users will enjoy features like following article authors and tweeting links and videos without leaving the page they want to tweet about.
There is no word as yet on the official launch date of the platform. Keep an eye on http://twitter.com/anywhere for more information though.
