It seems that these days all great games have to be made into a movie as quickly as possible, so why would Naughty Dog’s Uncharted be any different?

After a director and production team had been chosen all that was left to do was the casting. Enter Mark Wahlberg. Mark Wahlberg, of Three Kings, The Departed and The Other Guys fame, has been casted into the leading role of Nathan Drake.

During a MTV interview, former rapper Marky Mark all but confirmed his portrayal of the lead character in the movie version of the PlayStation 3 action-adventure. He also mentioned that the director, David O. Russel, was looking to cast Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci as his father and uncle in the movie adaptation.

During the MTV interview Mark Wahlberg also promised that this would not be a watered down version of the game.

The game is about Nathan Drake, who claims to be a descendant of explorer sir Francis Drake. He sets of into the South American rain forests in search for the lost city of El Dorado accompanied by journalist Elena Fischer and Nathan Drake’s partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

From game-to-movie has been popular amongst Hollywood directors as of late and rumours are all over the internet of more titles to come. Among them are World of Warcraft and God of War, and then the confirmed movies for Halo and the Half Life inspired movie Beyond Black Mesa.
