After launching all-in-one contract smart plans for smartphones last month, local cellular operator Vodacom turns its attention to prepaid clients by introducing a new Day-Night Double promotion offer.

When Vodacom customers recharge with R29 airtime or more, they will receive up to two hours free talk time to use any time of the day, as long as its on the same day that the airtime purchase was made. This promotion has already started and will run up until 31 August 2012.

Vodacom customers that purchase R29 worth of airtime or more will have the chance to make free calls for 60 minutes to other Vodacom clients, up until midnight on the day of recharge. In addition, customers will receive another 60 minutes free talk time to be used between 12:00 am to 05:00 am, every day for seven consecutive days via Night Shift.

In order to qualify for the Day-Night Double promotion, Vodacom subscribers must opt in by dialing *111# and then recharge with at least R29 worth of airtime on a single recharge. This opt in procedure only has to be done once and carries no cost.

“With the success of the Power Hour promotion we decided to run another promotion. This time we looked at how we can reward our customers - what better way than to provide them with free talk time that can be used any time of the day or night. Customers will still have their R29 to use as they choose. This is yet another way for us to provide more value to our customers,” said Enzo Scarcella, managing executive of marketing at Vodacom.

In other local operator related news, Cell C recently reduced its standard data rate to 15 cent per MB for in and out-of-bundle usage, across its entire data product portfolio. This new flat rate applies to all prepaid and contract data bundles and packages as of today (1 August 2012).
