Vodacom launched Vodafone My Web in South Africa today.

Vodafone My Web is a mobile content portal that displays links to popular mobile sites and services like the BBC and Twitter. More than a generic portal, Vodafone My Web allows users to customise the My Web interface with their own services and feeds.

"My Web offers a converged portal experience between web and mobile, aligning with Vodacom\'s growth strategy to provide customers with valued-added total communication services through new converged ICT solutions," says Shameel Joosub, Managing Director, Vodacom South Africa.

While the service is free, and accessible to users on any network, users will have to pay for some content and of course the data used. Users from networks other than Vodacom will however have to sign up via the web before accessing the portal on their handsets.
