Compro Technology announced the release of a new HD media centre in South Africa yesterday.

The company’s new VideoMate Network Media Centre T1000W supports 1080P FullHD video and is able to decode and record in MPEG-2 or H.264 digital TV streams where available.

In addition the sleek unit boasts wireless connectivity, an HDMI output and a pre-installed BitTorrent client.

The device apparently offers a very straight-forward user interface, which should spell relief for consumers that are little perplexed by the bells and whistles of conventional home theatre PCs. It carries a recommended retail price of R3515.

The device is available from Frontosa. You can contact them on 011 466 0038.
