The world’s biggest chip-maker, Intel, and the world’s largest mobile handset manufacturer, Nokia, released a joint statement yesterday announcing a deal to collaborate on the development of new convergence products.

While both companies were schtum on what any of these future products may be, they did mention that they would focus on overcoming barriers created by the convergence of the internet and mobility. Essentially the companies will work together to develop an open-source mobile platform for Intel’s Atom processor and Nokia’s Maemo OS.
