Yahoo has added real-time Twitter content to its search results, and will also make Twitter more accesible from Yahoo profiles. Last year Microsoft’s search engine Bing, with whom Yahoo is in a search alliance, started to display results from Twitter, based on the search of a name in association with “twitter”. The search results included a link to the relevant Twitter page and the latest tweet from that page. Google then announced its own deal with Twitter that saw the search giant indexing all public Twitter streams.

Unlike Microsoft and Google, this deal between Yahoo and Twitter isn’t just about real time social searches, but goes one significant step further by turning Yahoo sites into Twitter ‘birdhouses’. This is because you’ll be able to see your Twitter feeds on those sites and will eventually be able to post directly to Twitter from one of the Yahoo sites that you’re logged into.

The financial terms of Yahoo’s agreement with Twitter were not disclosed.
