If you are looking forward to the release of one of the hottest titles of the year, Rage, don’t hold your breath.

According to Kotaku, the release date for the title was revealed by id Software at the gaming convention QuakeCon 2010 in Dallas recently. The FPS come driving game is set to hit the PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 only on 13 September 2011 in the States and 15 September 2011 in Europe.

Rage is set on a post apocalyptic Earth that is in recovery after being hit by an asteroid, the aftermath of which turned the Earth’s surface into an environmental wasteland. The FPS game will incorporate MotorStorm-style dune buggy racing and players will be able to customise and upgrade their vehicles with the parts that they obtain by winning races.

The game is based on the id Tech 5 engine, which is the latest development toolset from the company that is responsible for Doom and Quake. Rage scooped three Best of E3 2010 Game Critics Awards this year for Best Console Game, Best Action Game and Special Commendation for Graphics.
