We’re not big fans of in-ear earphones when it comes to exercising, mainly because they have tendency to drop out as soon as we hit the road. The Philips ActionFit Sports in-ear earphones actually stick, and no matter the distance they were still in at the end of the run.
Wash and go
There are a number of very nice features to these earphones – the most important being that the silicone covers that fit over the earphones are washable and contains an anti-bacterial agent. Sweat and salt residue associated with exercising has a tendency to creep into earphones, so it’s excellent that you can clean these, plus they come in three different sizes to fit all ear types.
These earphones won't fall out while jogging.
Earphone cord tend to wear out over time just below the earphones or above the 3.5 mm jack, and while there’s no special protection to prevent this from happening, the cord itself is made of a slightly more resistive plastic than usual. It’s also equipped with a moveable clip in order to not swing in your way.
But what about the sound?
Sound was not overly impressive and we would have loved to have a bit more bass present, but then again superior audio quality is not exactly what you’re thinking of after kilo number five on a uphill training run. Despite this the Philips ActionFits Sports earphones come highly recommended, and is a good solution if over-the-head headphones are simply too big, and ear-clip earphones simply too bothersome. The package includes a handy travel pouch made from breathable material. It should retail for about R199.
Pros: Washable silicone covers, 3x sizes, stays in your ears when running.
Cons: Sound not that great.
