External hard-drives remain the stars of the backup and storage show. WD's My Passport HDD delivers an extra helping of portability to these type of devices, but how does it fare in other areas?
PROS
Stylish and very portable drive; quick transfer speeds when connected to Superspeed port; data backup software; password protection and data encryption software tools; and software for both Windows and Mac.
CONS
Very expensive for a 500 GB USB 3.0 portable HDD, but not much else.
VERDICT
If data transfer speed, design, portability, and useful software are your main motivating factors in buying a portable HDD, as opposed to its pricetag, than the My Passport Ultra from Western Digital will tick all your requirement boxes.
