Logitech’s C300 is a no-mess, no-fuss webcam sporting a 1.3 megapixel camera and built-in microphone for making video calls. You can use the Logitech with any one of the plethora of instant messaging (IM) services that the C300 supports including Skype, Google Chat, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.
If you want a more basic, easy to follow video calling program, then you can download the Logitech Vid software (16 MB) which is easier to use. The Logitech Vid software cuts away all the extra features, for instance text chatting, that you’d find with more complicated software, in order to make it simple and straightforward for anyone to use. It enables you to add your friends and family by entering their email addresses, sending them a mail to download the software at their end. Once the software has been installed you can start calling them.
Still pics that were taken with the C300 were generally of a good quality and the webcam allows you to take software enhanced still pics of up to 5 megapixel size with its 1.3 megapixel sensor. Even though enhanced and not true 5 megapixel optical pics, they still look good. The useful universal clip of the webcam can flip open so that the C300 can be firmly fixed to a LCD monitor or laptop, or can be folded closed to stand on a counter or your PC tower.
The C300 goes for a recommended R499. Visit www.logitech.com for more info.
PROS
Easy set up and use. Good quality still pics.
