Is a FPS PC gamer really as good as his mouse? If so, then the affordable Verbatim Rapier V2 Laser Gaming mouse can get the average newb to lift his game without breaking the bank.

Customisable

The Rapier has seven 4.5 g weight pads that allow you to select your ideal weight set-up for the mouse. Once that’s done, you can program the mouse buttons, of which there are seven as well, to fit your playing style. An added benefit is that this configuration of the mouse controls can be used on another PC without the need for the software, since the settings for the mouse can be saved directly to the V2.

The V2 also has seven dpi (400 to 3200) “on the fly” sensitivity settings and adjustable USB speed (125 to 1000 Hz) that combine to ensure that you find a comfortable speed setting.

Browsing

When not gaming but surfing the web, the side button, where your thumb is positioned, comes in very handy, as you can use it to move back and forth between pages in your page history.

Availability

As a more affordable gaming mouse, the Rapier V2 is highly customisable which helps to maximise your gaming experience. The mouse is available for R359 from Drive Control Corporation. Contact G.J. Janse van Rensburg on 011-201-8927.

PROS
Easy to use and a number of custom settings available.
CONS
Some of the side buttons feel cheap.
