Looking for an ideal solution for a home office? Lexmark have certainly hit the mark with their new release, the X6570 wireless multifunction printer. This unit boasts a colour printer, scanner, fax and copier built-in. The X6570 can also be connected wirelessly and also offers two-sided printing.

Setting up the wireless feature of the X6570 is simple enough, provided you follow the instructions carefully. A wireless indicator on the front panel changes from red to orange to green to show the status of the connection.

If wireless connectivity is not your thing, hooking up the printer via USB will be just as effective. When it comes to the crunch of printing, you’ll find the Lexmark toolbar that allows instant printing of web pages, including a “text only” function that removes any pictures from the page. The main control panel and LCD display can be found on the front of the unit where there is easy access to the copier, fax and scanner. A multi-card slot and Pictbridge connection is available for accessing digital photos. We found the X6570 printed at around 15ppm at the standard quality setting. Photo printing is also fast, with a full colour, borderless A4 print appearing in just over 4 minutes. The X6570 has a fully featured fax and can easily handle multiple page documents with its up to 25-page auto-document feeder.

The X6570 comes with OCR (optical character recognition) software that converts scanned and faxed documents to computer text. The accompanying Lexmark Productivity Studio software is a console from where you can manage printing, scanning, copying and the sending of electronic documents as faxes. Scan quality is acceptable for copying or scanning documents for OCR. Scan resolution is 600x1200 dots per inch (up to 19,200 dpi in enhanced mode). Overall this all in one product is the ideal solution for the budget conscious business or home user that needs to take productivity to another level.
