The Swiss might be neutral when it comes to politics and war, but Swiss native Logitech has ditched this fence-sitting frame of mind when it comes to high quality and fashionably designed PC peripherals. The company recently introduced its LS11 2.0 stereo speaker system to save budget conscious PC users from the bland looking and sounding, standard issue white or gray desktop speakers. This speaker system is part of the company's recently unveiled Fantasy Collection, which is a range of peripherals sporting a greater selection of colours and unconventional patterns.
Design and output
This trendy two-tone and compact (16 x 8.5 x 8.1 cm) speaker system provides users with almost the same fairly good quality and almost the same amount of sound power as the costlier Logitech Z320 Speaker System that we reviewed at the beginning of the year.
It boasts a total peak power output figure of six watts and although these aren't the loudest sounding 2.0 speaker system in the world, the sound quality remains relatively distortion free, even at its maximum volume. The lack of a subwoofer though (seeing that it’s 2.0 and not 2.1) means that you’ll miss the bass oomph. Overall though you will have few quarrels while using these speakers, when you watch a movie or listen to music in your room at home.

Adjusting your sound
You switch the speakers on/off as well as adjust the volume via a large dial at the front of the right speaker. There is also a 3.5 mm audio headset jack next to that dial, for those instances when you don’t want to disturb anyone around you. Also featured is another 3.5 mm input jack for playing your music directly off your portable CD player, MP3 player, iPod or smartphone instead of your PC.
Final Word
Considering its affordable recommended retail pricetag of R169-R249, the capable LS11 speaker system delivers a good quality sound and acceptable volume level. Even with the lack of bass this pair of stylish speakers is definitely worth considering.
PROS
Good sound level and quality, looks modern and hip, and the price-tag that won't burn a whole in your pocket.
CONS
You need a two-point power plug to use the speakers, lacks bass.
