Logitech's stylish and compact (64 x 180 x 34.33 mm) Z205 laptop speaker rests securely on top of your notebook screen, thanks to its lightweight design and sturdy clip. It's a practical solution to using portable USB-powered speakers that usually end up all over the show, tending to make life very difficult if you want to move your laptop around while watching a movie for example.

Once you’ve clipped it on to the notebook, you simply connect the cable to an available USB port and you’ll be able to enjoy decent sound, without having to bother with installing any additional software; looking for an open power socket; or finding the 3.5mm audio jack. The sound quality of the Z205 is much better than onboard notebook sound or that found on most of the tiny portable speaker systems, but ultimately not that clear. It's slightly below par compared to 2.1 desktop speaker systems, and it just can't match their bass and maximum volume.

Also included is a 3.5 mm audio jack at the back of the Z205 speaker if you want to play music from your MP3 player or cellphone, but no 3.5 mm cable for this purpose is included in the package.

You can get Logitech’s Laptop Speaker Z205 at a recommended retail price of R540 from selected retail outlets, which is unfortunately a lot more than for more common portable speakers. Visit www.logitech.co.za for more info.

PROS
The sturdy clip-based design and good sound quality.
CONS
It is expensive and could do with a little more bass.
