With the cellphone world going touch-screen crazy, some will find Sony Ericsson’s C905 with its just plain slide out keypad refreshingly normal.

Technically the C905 makes all the right noises. It includes A-GPS (with Google Maps), Wi-Fi and HSDPA, plus it auto rotates the screen’s orientation from portrait to landscape.

Key to the C905 is the eight megapixel camera, with a lot of attention being paid to making the camera feel at home on its cellphone body. The C905 operates just like a regular compact camera would, with even features like face detection onboard. Your pics can be geotagged to show your exact location when you took it, plus the Xenon flash is a big bonus.

Generally we were quite pleased with the quality as well as detail on the pictures. Unfortunately the glare from white objects caused a headache and it spoiled a lot of our outdoor pictures. Regular compacts have managed to bring this under control, so in that regard you’re still better off with a regular camera. As a phone/ camera hybrid though, the Sony Ericsson C905 is a very good choice.

PROS
It offers A-GPS and an awesome 8 megapixel camera that is well integrated.
CONS
Not all the camera filters and balances work as well as they should.
