While South Africans patiently wait to get their hands on the new all-display iPhone X, it's already time to start thinking about what devices Apple will be releasing next year. As it turns out, the iPhone X will be serving as inspiration, with Bloomberg reporting that the 2018 iPads will make use of the same Face ID facial recognition software, opting to remove the physical home button altogether.

At this stage, it's unclear if the tablet will fall under the Pro or standard lineup, but it is believed to be around the 10.5" mark in terms of screen size. Apple is also said to be working on a Pencil stylus for the device, which makes us think it will likely be closer to the Pro models as far as features and usability goes.

Also in the offing is a larger amount of screen real estate in ratio to the iPad's body, with reduced bezels on the cards. It's unknown if the new device will also be all-screen like the iPhone X, or indeed if it will feature the same notch at the top of the screen.

With the iPhone X not only serving as a 10th anniversary model of the iPhone, but also the template for Apple's mobile hardware moving forward, such features should become more prevalent in future products released by the Cupertino-based company.
