The game developer behind Pokémon Go is working on Harry Potter title
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 9 November 2017 | Categories: newsNiantic Labs could be set to return to the mobile gaming spotlight once again. The developer which helped create the short-lived craze of Pokémon Go last year, is now turning its attention to another property with a cult following - Harry Potter. Niantic recently announced that it is partnering with Warner Bros. Interactive and Portkey Games on an upcoming title named Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
Like Pokémon Go, Wizards Unite is said to feature heavily on augmented reality (AR) gameplay, although what it will entail at this stage is unknown. Taking an educated guess, we think the setup will be quite similar to that of Pokémon Go, which could see gamers exploring their environment for mystical items from the Harry Potter universe, as well as compete in turn-based fights, possibly defending specific locations from Dementors or other threats.
No deadline has been set for the game's release yet, with Niantic simply telling fans to keep up to date on the dev's social media channels.
