Andy Serkis pictured in CGI garb for Star Wars: The Force Awakens
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 29 May 2015 | Categories: newsIf you're a fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy films, chances are you've seen Andy Serkis' work and haven't even realised it. Yes, his most famous work was as Gollum for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, but the man's been pretty busy since then, playing roles like Caesar in The Planet of the Apes reboot. Now Serkis is taking his veteran CGI character skills to the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In a feature posted on Star Wars' official blog yesterday, iconic photographer Annie Liebowitz was the focus of the piece, for a photo shoot she did for Vanity Fair. As interesting as that was, we were far more intrigued about Serkis' involvement with the film.
According to the Star Wars blog, Serkis will be playing a character named Supreme Leader Snoke. While we weren't shown the finished product, Serkis was pictured wearing his now customary motion capture suit and facial recognition dots. He also sports a rather menacing sneer, which leads us to believe that Supreme Leader Snoke will be placing his alliance with the dark side of the Force.
While The Force Awakens is slated for the year's end (16 December), take another look at the second trailer for the film below, to tide you over.
