Here’s some good news for this Monday – Anew: The Distant Light has reached its $30 000 Kickstarter goal, with under a day to go before its campaign ended. Why should I care, you may ask? Well, because the game is the first project on the cards from Resonator. While the studio may be new, its developers certainly are not, with its founders formerly having a hand in Bioshock and Star Wars: Empire at War, as well as the manic fun that was Borderlands.

As if that wasn’t enough reason to perk one’s interest, then the game mechanics may be, as Anew will combine space exploration, puzzle solving and, yes of course, combat. It also has an interesting premise, with players stepping into the sneakers of a child to save the Earth by navigating an alien world.

Along with the fact that first Kickstarter goal was reached, which means the side scrolling game is on course for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, there is more good news. As of this writing, the game has just surpassed its $35 000 stretch goal, which means that it will also be able to make it to Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch, when it is released in July next year. That’s terrific news, as it is practically begging to be played on a 6” screen when on the move.

Head down to the cell shaded trailer below, and you will see what we mean.
