By Robin-Leigh Chetty 4 August 2016 | Categories: newsNot content to simply limit itself to iOS devices, Apple has been working on an Android compatible version of its Music app for quite some time now. Ten months in fact, the app remaining in Beta phase for the better part of a year. Now, Apple Music has undergone the relevant testing and is available for users to download on the Google Play Store.
At the time of writing, the app is sitting on the 5 million downloads threshold, which isn't too bad. You still need to join Apple Music to use the app of course, which necessitates the creation of an Apple ID.
The 1.0 version of Apple Music features several bug fixes identified during the Beta phase, with Engadget pointing out the inclusion of a customisable equaliser as one such add-on. There are some caveats regarding app rollout, however, with the inability to download and use Apple Music on a Android tablet device being one.
Pleasing to note though, is that for any Android newcomers to Apple Music, the service's three-month free trial applies.
