Some good news for Tesla Motors fans. The company recently released its Q2 2016 earnings report, and in an investor call, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the company has plans to manufacture and roll out a minibus and long haul truck in 2017. 

Both vehicles will be electrically powered, with the company already well on the way to development. “We expect to unveil those for the middle of next year, maybe the next six to nine months type of thing. And then [we’d] have a better, more fleshed-out plan for when those would enter production,” says Musk. 

This is not the first time that Musk had mentioned commercial vehicle production, alluding to them as far back as 2006, according to The Verge. It is however, the first time that he has given a definitive timeline for unveiling. 

It's unclear where either vehicle will be manufactured, but the logical choice will likely be the company's new Gigafactory in the Nevada desert, which is still only at ⅛ of its production capability. Once completed in 2020, Tesla will be able to produce all the electric vehicles in its current lineup, along with any future projects.
