Assassin's Creed Odyssey is set in Ancient Greece, this much we knew from the teaser video that developer Ubisoft shared in the lead up to E3 2018. Now the company has revealed a cinematic trailer for the latest installment of the franchise, along with a gameplay walkthrough detailing what sets this iteration apart from its brethren.

While the full storyline has now been revealed, the trailer does point quite heavily to a tale of revenge, as a son is discarded by his father to die, but survives and works his way up through the ranks of the Spartan army. There is also a reference to an artefact that belonged to Leonidas, which is likely how the Assassin's Creed tie-in comes into play.

When it comes to gameplay, you'll be able to choose from either a male of female character, named Alexios or Kassandra respectively. According to Ubisoft, this is their first full-blown RPG title in the Assassin's Creed series, with choice playing a central role to how things progress in the campaign. Along with gamer-driven narratives, there will also be a lot of customisable content for you to earn, with everything from the weapons you wield, to your ship.

Landing on PS4 and Xbox One on 5 October, it should be interesting to see if Odyssey can continue the momentum that Assassin's Creed Origins began last year.
