BlackBerry's BBM Stickathon coming to South Africa
By Staff Writer 2 December 2015 | Categories: newsAfter a successful first contest in July 2015 which saw over 7000 entries submitted from all over Indonesia, the BBM Stickathon is now coming to South Africa this December, encouraging to create some unique stickers of their own via BBM.
Launched in 2014, BBM stickers (BlackBerry's version of emoji) have become one of the more interesting components of IM service, with BBM stickers allowing users to chat with one another. There are hundreds of stickers BBM users can share on the BBM Shop today.
The BBM Stickathon, now open to South Africans, offers users the chance to create stickers based on unique characters and win a range of exciting design prizes, as well as the opportunity for their sticker range to be made available for download from the BBM Shop. The first contest run in Indonesia, saw some creative stickers submitted, 271 of which have been available for download from the BBM Shop since August 2015. This leg of the BBM Stickathon in South Africa will be searching for 13 of the most expressive stickers.
The winner will be awarded the grand prize of a 21.5" iMac, plus a Wacom Intuos Pro medium tablet. The second prize is a 13" MacBook Pro, plus a Wacom Intous Pro small tablet and the third place is a Wacom Intuos Pro medium tablet. The next 10 runners-up will win a Wacom Intuos Draw Pen tablet. The winners and their designs will also have an opportunity to feature in the BBM Shop by creating more stickers in the future. Voters also stand a chance to win a BlackBerry Z10.
How to enter
Anyone wishing to enter the BBM Stickathon should visit www.bbmstickathon.co.za, register, read the design guide on the website, then get creative. Once complete, sticker packs should be submitted by 16 December 2015. Submissions are now open. Contestants should encourage their friends and family to vote online for their sticker pack, as well as promote what they have created via social media. Voting period is from 7 to 20 December 2015. The 20 sticker packs with the most votes will be judged by the BBM jury, who will select the top three winners and 10 runners-up.
