Blizzard makes Overwatch freely playable next weekend
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 10 November 2016 | Categories: newsOverwatch is clearly one of the biggest games of 2016, particularly when it comes to the sheer volume of gamers that have played it. With seven million players registering for the MMOFPS tile in its first week of release, and a reported total of 20 million users playing it to date, it's popularity is hard to deny. There are still some people that are yet to experience it, which is where Blizzard's latest initiative comes into play.
The publisher will make the game free to play next weekend (18-21 November), across all platforms, whether it be Windows PC, PS4 or Xbox One. This initiative starts next week Friday at 20:00 (SAST) and will last until 11:00 on Monday morning.
As far as what gamers will be able to experience, Blizzard will be opening up access to all characters on the current Overwatch roster, as well as Quick Play, Custom Games and Weekly Brawl. If you're still in the dark about Overwatch, click on the cinematic trailer and latest animated short below.
