We're all for new technology but you have to draw the line somewhere. The Americans have decided that it might just be a good idea to make your braai connect to your Wi-Fi network. Granted, the Traeger Timberline 850 is not your conventional wood or gas braai.

It works with wood pellets ($19 a pack) which are automatically fed to the fire to regulate the heat and smoke. This process can be controlled via an app, which means you can sit in front of the TV watching baseball and still manage your corn-on-the-cob or pork butts on the grill. Of course, what else could this feature be called except WiFire?

The Traeger Timberline 850 is a good looking grill, with a commercial grade stainless steel exterior, three tiers of cooking surfaces, and a hefty weight of 97 kg. What's the price of this American cooking technology you might ask? At around $1699 (R23 000), it's quite a bit more than your average Cadac.
