When we attended rAge late last year, many gaming fans queued for hours inside the Ticketpro Dome for a first glimpse at Injustice 2. Behind the black curtains, we got the chance to see how NetherRealm has improved the fighting mechanics, created more immersive environments, as well as the way upgrades and customisation will play a central role for gameplay.

What was missing, however, was the storyline. Thankfully a new trailer has arrived via publisher WB Games that sheds a bit more light on the situation.

In it, we're first greeted by the image of Superman imprisoned, as Batman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman are seen throughout. The trailer is also narrated by an unknown character, which later is revealed to be Brainiac as he talks about redrawing the lines. It's still up for interpretation what this means, but our thinking is that the chains will be loosened from the last son of Krypton.

As far as a release date goes, Injustice 2 will land on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC on 19 May. To drum up further interest, WB Games will throw Darkseid into the mix for those who pre-order the game. Hit play on the video below and enjoy the first story trailer for Injustice 2.
