Canon Expo visitors exceed 6 000
By Ryan Noik 5 December 2013 | Categories: newsAccording to Canon South Africa, its most recent and third expo garnered in excess of 6000 visitors from the 29th of November to the 1st of December.
The company elaborated that thousands of visitors took the opportunity again this year to see and test-out Canon’s range of consumer imaging and business solutions products, including large format printers, office printers, copiers, scanners, faxes, and photographic equipment.
Photo expo firsts
The expo was also host to a number of firsts, including the introduction of interactive product stations, which physically showcased the full input through to output functionality of selected Canon products.
Another first was the presence of the imagePRESS (Colour digital press), Arizona (Large Format flatbed) and imageRUNNER range of products, which were also on display.
Furthermore, another first for this year’s expo was the social media section where Canon fans could chat to the company’s dedicated social media coordinator about staying connected with the brand. Throughout the expo, screens showed live Twitter feeds from people at the event.
“We are thrilled at the turnout for this year’s Canon Expo. The calibre of visitors this year was impressive and we found that the majority of our guests came for a specific purpose, whether it was to purchase products, attend the workshops or get advice,” commented Canon SA’s marketing manager, Michelle Janse van Vuuren.
“Ultimately, we see our expo as a meaningful, interactive platform for people who want to purchase or already use our products and are as passionate about imaging as we are. We believe that everyone who came to the expo found it to be a knowledge-enriching experience,” she continued.
Winners wait
For those whose entries were selected for the shortlist in each category of the Canon Photo Competition, and for those who voted for their favourite images, Canon confirmed that all four category winners will be informed on or after 15 January by email and will receive their prize, which consists of a Canon EOS 6D with a 24-105mm f/4L IS lens, by no later than 31 January 2014.
The voters’ competition winner will similarly be informed by email after 15 January 2014 and will receive the Canon EOS M camera with a 18-55mm IS STM lens and a Speedlite 90EX flash as their prize.
“We were very happy with the quality of entries for our photo competition and also offered visitors the opportunity to purchase glossy books at the expo event, featuring the top 10 finalists in each category of the competition,” concluded Janse van Vuuren.
The competition was not without a good cause, as the proceeds from these books will be donated to the South African Disabled Golf Associations (SADGA) in the coming weeks.
