Channeling Ash and Pikachu's bromance, Pokémon Go Buddy goes live
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 14 September 2016 | Categories: newsWere you ever jealous of Ash and Pikachu's friendship during the Pokémon TV series? Then the recently announced Buddy system for Pokémon Go might just be what you've been looking for. Initially detailed earlier this month, Pokémon Go Buddy allows gamers to choose one of their captured Pokémon to be friends with.
The new feature will be rolled out in a new update from developer Niantic Labs in coming weeks, also including a handful of bug fixes. What this will do for your newly chosen Pokébud, however, is far more interesting, with the newly added ability to drop extra candy that can be used for powering up and evolving other Pokémon in your roster.
While Pokémon Go has slowed down in popularity over the past few weeks, this new feature, along with the long awaited Pokémon Go Plus smartband, as well as forthcoming Apple Watch functionality, may give the game its second wind.
