Apple's latest mobile operating system, iOS 10, began its rollout to users in select regions yesterday. The first few hours of the update have not been as smooth as the Cupertino-based company may have hoped, however. Several hundred users have experienced issues, with one of the more high profile ones being tech YouTuber MKBHD (Marques Brownlee), who posted an image on Twitter of his iPhone prompting a complete restore.

In response, Apple advised updaters experiencing issues to place their iOS device in recovery mode and then restore it via iTunes. While this should fix the problem, it's less than ideal for an update that Apple has talked up as one of its best to date. At least it’s not batteries exploding. 

The problem has now been fixed according to Apple, who provided a statement to The Verge. "We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability. The problem was quickly resolved and we apologise to those customers," noted an Apple spokesperson. 

When the iOS10 update hits local shores, it’s advisable to do a full backup before downloading the new OS, just in case.
