Destiny 2 becomes 2017's best selling game on day of PC launch
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 24 October 2017 | Categories: newsToday marks the release of Destiny 2 on PC, with more gamers set to join other Guardians in this space epic sequel. The title has clearly proved popular, winning over fans of the original and newcomers alike, with Bungie's efforts paying dividends. So much so, in fact, that Destiny 2 has been named the best selling game of 2017 to date, according to an NPD Group report.
While not disclosing the precise figure, we all assumed Destiny 2 would be a strong seller, but this latest report is perhaps more than Bungie might have hoped for. What makes the news even more significant, is that the game has only been released on Xbox One and PS4, reaching the mark in a little over one month. Add the expected sales from PC versions of the title, and Destiny 2 could cement its place as the top selling title of 2017.
Beating out other popular first person shooter titles like Battlefield 1 over the last 12 months, Destiny 2 will have to fight off competition from Call of Duty: WWII, which lands on 3 November.
