With boss battles that seemed to last an eternity, lots of flexing and screaming, and plenty of spiky gold hair, there was plenty to love about Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. The series originally aired in its native Japan close to 18 years ago, long before local SA school kids got to re-enacted fight scenes on playgrounds. 

Now, Hypebeast reports that the anime's creator, Akira Toriyama has begun working on a new series named Dragon Ball Super. Super will take place a few years after the events of the Buu Saga, as Goku and his ever-growing clan of Saiyan fighters return to TV screens. 

The series will be coming to Japanese televisions courtesy of Muji TV this July. Toriyama has remained tight lipped on any definitive details, but did state that a new enemy more powerful than both Freeza and Buu will appear. It may be old tactic that series has employed, but the chance to see Goku go Super Saiyan never seems to lose its appeal. 

For now series producers Funimation is readying Dragon Ball Z Resurrection 'F' for release in Japanese cinemas, with one of the TV series' most iconic foes making an unwelcome return.
