Ex Machina must have been one of the top movies of 2014, with director Alex Garland really nailing it. He is back with what might just be the surprise hit of 2018. The teaser trailer for Annihilation has been released and it looks spectacular.

Based on the sci-fi/fantasy/horror novel by Jeff VanderMeer, it tells the story of a group of scientists looking to investigate Area X. This environment, as the name might have alluded to, is not exactly what it seems, taking on a dream-like quality with many hidden dangers.

Annihilation feels as if it has a touch of Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker in there, mixed with Apocalypse Now and Monsters. It stars one of our favourites, Natalie Portman as The Scientist, and Oscar Isaac as her husband. Isaacs of course worked with Garland on Ex Machina.

We would think more will be revealed as we get closer to the release date of 23 February 2018, but for now, sit back and enjoy the trailer.
