Following its open beta, Overwatch registered 9 million gamers
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 13 May 2016 | Categories: newsIt looks like things are shaping up very nicely for Blizzard's MMO shooter Overwatch, with the game's recent open beta registering 9.7 million gamers over less than a week. According to Blizzard the open beta, available on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC, amassed an estimated 81 million hours of gameplay over 37 million different matches.
No newcomers to open betas, it is saying something when Overwatch garnered the most numbers that the company has ever received for such a test phase. As such, they no doubt have plenty of data to mull over and use, should there be any fixes or additions they're looking to make before the game's 24 May release date.
Naturally, Blizzard took to Twitter to thanks its fans, and with the game's fully fledged debut soon approaching, it could be the MMO title to beat in 2016.
