Gears of War's Markus Fenix may have passed on visiting the next gen consoles, but here's a familiar face who hasn't  - none either than Kratos will be brutally rampaging his way onto the PS4, wtih a remastered version of God of War III bound for Sony's next gen console this July.

That's right, the demigod who makes Mike Tyson in his heyday look like a weepy schoolgirl by comparison, the Spartan with really serious daddy issues and a temper for whom anger management was created, is inbound. Along with the likes of Uncharted, God of War III was a seminal game on the PS3 system; for those who may have missed it, the announcement means that the chance to exact bloody vengeance on the Greek gods is coming around again. Perhaps more exciting is that the game will run  at 60 fps and in 1080p high definition, which should make for some terrifically fluid gameplay.

God of War III (review) on the PS3, now five years old, was already a spectacularly striking game; in case you are wondering how much more so it can be, then you really need to take a look at the announcement trailer below.
