For now, the Google Pixel phones are not arriving in any official capacity for South Africa, but should you have been able to get your hands on it, an impending Android beta is on the way. The company's blog confirmed the news earlier this week, with Android 7.1.2 (Nougat), landing on the Google-specific devices via the Android Beta program.

At this stage, it's unclear what new features will be included in this version of Nougat, with the blog simply detailing a series of bug fixes and subtle enhancements. As such, this update will likely just be to polish any aspects of the operating system that weren't already so.

Along with the Pixel phones, other devices which will have early access include the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet-hybrid.
