Google's paid storage plans get pricing overhaul
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 15 May 2018 | Categories: newsGoogle is shaking up things for its paid storage consumer offerings. The changes include a new tier called Google One which serves up 200 GB of online storage for $2.99 (R37) a month, along with access to live customer service when needed, although we're not entirely sure how often you'll be requiring their assistance.
Google has also reduced the prices of some of its other storage plans, with the 2 TB option now costing $9.99 (R124) compared to its previous price of $19.99. This change has seen the 1 TB option fall away altogether, but the 10 TB, 20 TB and 30 TB options will remain the same.
Another notable addition will be the ability to make a plan shareable with up to five family members. The free 15 GB of storage that is available to every Google Drive user is still present. There's no precise date for when the change will take effect, but Google does say that an email confirmation should pop up in your inbox in coming weeks.
