Gamescom 2017 is well underway in Cologne, Germany, which means a host of gaming news is being revealed. To that end, developers Bungie have dropped the official launch trailer for Destiny 2. Much like the game’s reveal a few months ago, the focus of the trailer is on how the Guardians will react after suffering a catastrophic attack at the hands of Dominus Ghaul, the game’s new protagonist.

We also get to see some of the key Guardians in action, as well as plenty of quick quips from Cayde-6 (voiced by Nathan Fillion, Firefly). For those still in the dark about Destiny 2’s storyline, it will centre around banding the Guardians together following Ghaul’s attack on the Citadel. To that end, gamers will have to journey to different planets, defeating Ghaul’s Red Legion army along the way, and helping to lead the Guardian uprising.

As well as beefing up the gameplay for the main campaign mode, Bungie has also refined aspects of the online multiplayer portion for Destiny 2, as the developer tries to learn and improve upon elements of the ambitious original title. Whether or not it has done so remains to be seen, but this sequel is hotly anticipated regardless.

Launching on consoles (PS4, Xbox One) on 6 September, then later on PC come 24 October, hit play on the launch trailer for Destiny 2 below.
