In recent years the Academy Awards have been slammed for their lack of diversity when it came to nominees. With calls for change ringing throughout the industry, it appears as if the Academy noted the criticism, with this year's nominees proving one of the most diverse to date. 

Unfortunately, SA’s candidate for Best Foreign Language Film, Inxeba (The Wound) did not make the cut, but we did score a nomination. Cape Town-based Triggerfish’s Revolting Rhymes is up for Best Animated Short Film. The 2018 Academy Awards will take place on 4 March.
