We reviewed the Hisense Infinity H30 a few years back and was rather surprised at this strong offering going for a decent price. The new Infinity H50 range seems to be cut from the same cloth, with the Infinity H50 and H50 Zoom smartphones now available in South Africa.

Let’s start with the H50, which retails just below R8k. For this you get the 6.81” screen (1080x2460), a 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP quad rear camera plus 32 MP front camera, a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a decent 5000 mAh battery with quick-charge.

The Infinity H50 Zoom is a bit smaller, with a 6.53” screen (1080 x 2340) and its stand-out feature of a pop-up 16 MP front-facing camera, and a 48MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP quad rear camera. As far as battery life is concerned, you receive 4020 mAh in the tank. All this will set you back R5 499.

There are a few features both models share, including the same 2.1 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 MT6771T chipset, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space.

In all, Hisense seems to be offering good specs at a solid price-point for both H50 models, with our favourite the standard H50 itself. An H50 lite model will be arriving in South Africa in May for R4 499.
