Sometimes a collab comes along that might look ill-fitting on the surface but actually works quite brilliantly. This is indeed the case for the newly announced Vans x National Geographic collection. National Geographic has been a hallmark in the photographic community while inspiring the explorer in everyone for 132 years through groundbreaking storytelling and scientific discovery. This certainly resonates with Vans' championing of individuality and creative boundary pushing.

Based on both brands’ deep appreciation for the environment, the materials utilised in this collection were thoughtful, including organic cotton canvas uppers, recycled PET shoelaces and packaging.

For the collection, unique National Geographic photographs and logos are featured on five of Vans’ classic silhouettes - the Sk8-Hi Reissue 138, Old Skool, Authentic, Era and Classic Slip-On. Both logos are proudly featured on a key style from the collection, the Sk8-Hi Reissue 138. The Era stands out with its all-over print featuring iconic National Geographic magazine covers from the past. Kids can also express their inner explorer when wearing the Classic Slip-On covered in a kaleidoscope of unique images from the National Geographic Photo Ark, photographer Joel Sartore’s effort to document every species in support of wildlife conservation.

The apparel offering includes styles and accessories for both men and women. Made with heavy cotton jersey materialization, the women’s long-sleeve cropped tee features a screen-printed National Geographic Society seal on the front and Vans’ iconic checkerboard print running down the sleeves. Pair this top with the National Geographic recycled-twill ball cap to complete the look.

Key men’s apparel styles include the National Geographic short-sleeve tee with a Vans logo on the front and National Geographic globe graphic on the back. A highlight of the collection is the Nat Geo Voyage Boardshort, made with 100% renewable plant-based Sonora fibers. The boardshort is embroidered with Vans branding along with a National Geographic globe patch and logo. Rounding out the look is the National Geographic Ward Crossbody Pack, perfect for everyday items or carrying essentials.

The Vans x National Geographic collection is now available at Vans stores.
