Huawei has released a number of premium devices in the past few years, with the Mate 9 phablet being the latest. While the device is yet to released in South Africa, attention has already turned to the yet-to-be unveiled Huawei P10. With Huawei upping their game each year, rumours have been circulating about the new device. Here's what we've heard so far.

First the release date. Normally, Huawei reserves standalone events for its flagship devices, but reports suggest the P10 may make its debut at Mobile World Congress in late February. Adding credence to the rumours, Huawei has sent out invites for a presentation at MWC 17 for Sunday, 26 February 2017, with the P10 expected in attendance. Unveiling the Huawei P10 would make plenty of sense, especially if the Chinese manufacturer wishes to make a statement of intent at the world’s largest congregation of mobile technology.

On the specifications side, Huawei may employ a QHD display (2560x1440), with a 5.2" and 5.5" screen for the P10 and P10 Plus models respectively. Internally, Huawei is said utilise the new Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, which can be found in the Mate 9, as well as 6 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage options. Leica-certified cameras are also on the cards, with the P10 said to utilise the new second gen dual setup featuring a 16 MP lens. Other rumoured features may include a fingerprint sensor on the home button and Android Nougat 7.0 operating system with Huawei's EMUI user interface layered on top.

With more than a month to go until MWC 17 gets underway, more information about the Huawei P10 may leak or be revealed in weeks to come.
