Independent team designs Porsche-inspired 908-04 Vision Gran Turismo concept
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 15 July 2016 | Categories: newsIf you're well versed in the lore of Gran Turismo, you'll likely be aware that Porsche cars have not made their way onto Polyphony Digital's real driving simulator franchise. The reason for the German carmaker's absence from Gran Turismo stems from an exclusive licensing agreement between Electronic Arts and Sony, according to Motor Authority.
It has therefore prompted a group of independent designers to envisage their own Porsche concept - the 908-04. The vehicle draws inspiration for its name from 908 race cars that Porsche built during the 60s. As far as our eyes can tell, it also has a bit of Porsche Carrera GT and Ford GT incorporated into its design.
The group of independent designers have been able to retain their anonymity, but Motor Authority has found out that they consist of five car designers and one retoucher, whose work has most recently been seen in a few Chinese vehicles.
Those hoping to get behind the wheel of this concept will be left disappointed, as the exclusive license mentioned earlier still applies for Polyphony's upcoming Gran Turismo Sport game. Consequently, the Porsche 908-04 Vision Gran Turismo concept is only an image for now, but a boy can dream.
