Four dollars. With the current exchange rate that's roughly 60 ZAR. In SA, that could get you a nicely sized pizza with a few toppings. In India, that's the price of the new Freedom 251 smartphone from Ringing Bells. This device derives its name from how many rupees it costs - ₹ 251. It's set to go on sale in its native India on 30 June, and as Engadget points out, it almost seems too good to be true.

There seems to be plenty of interest in this ultra cheap offering, with an estimated 200 000 units set for sale with the first batch, according to The Indian Express. What's the Freedom 251 packing? Up front, it has a 4" screen (960x540), which is not overly impressive, but things get better internally.

The Freedom 251 features a quad-core 1.3 GHz processor (make unknown), with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of onboard storage. The latter can be expanded, but its capacity has not been disclosed. Other features include a 8 MP camera on the rear and 3.2 front facing option.

Furthermore, the Freedom 251 is also boasting Android 5.1 (Lollipop) as its native OS. With all this, coupled with the fact in only costs $4, the Freedom 251 could very easily be the best burner phone we've ever heard of.
