Insomniac Games announces Song of the Deep
By Ryan Noik 29 January 2016 | Categories: newsApparently not content to rest on its laurels ahead of the forthcoming Ratchet and Clank game and its accompanying movie, Insomniac Games has announced another new title that is incoming.
The game is called Song of the Deep, and the studio has described it as a Metroidvania-style underwater adventure. The side scrolling titles follows a young girl, Merryn, as she builds her own submarine and goes in search of her fisherman father, who has been lost at sea. It seems like it could offer quite an affecting story, reminding a little bit of the ilk of Submerged (review).
In the newly released launch trailer, we see Merryn navigating the underwater depths both in her sub and briefly free swimming as well, and it looks like puzzle solving will play a large part of progressing further. If there is one thing Insomniac excels at, it is creating varied worlds and distinctive opponents, both of which seem plentiful here.
The really good news though is that we won’t have long to wait for it – the game is slated for release in the second quarter of this year still, on PS4 and Xbox One and PC from PSN, Xbox Live and Steam respectively for $15.
Take a look at the trailer below to see if Insomniac’s latest project rocks your boat (pun fully intended, and shamelessly launched).
