James Mangold is said to be working on a Boba Fett spin-off movie
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 25 May 2018 | Categories: NewsIt looks the Star Wars spin-off universe is about to grow even further. With Rogue One proving a success and Solo: A Stars Wars Story hitting local cinemas today, fans of the George Lucas-created world will be glad to hear that a Boba Fett film is in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Logan director James Mangold is attached to the project. Little is known about the project at this stage, other than the film dealing with Boba Fett's origins, which have been touched on briefly in the Star Wars prequel movies.
Those who sat through the prequels will remember that Boba Fett was a clone of his father Jango Fett, with him also witnessing the death of his dad at the hands of Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) in Attack of the Clones. Whether or not any of this will feature in the spin-off flick remains to be seen, and indeed if the events in the prequels will be canon or retconned for the purposes of the Boba Fett movie.
Along with a solo story of the iconic bounty hunter, an origin film is also on the cards for Obi-Wan Kenobi. What we're hoping for though, is an origin story for Darth Maul, and perhaps something dealing with Darth Vader between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
