In the world of gaming, two expos stand out each year. The first is E3, which happened only a few short weeks ago in June. Now it's Europe's turn, with Gamescom taking place in Cologne, Germany this week. As such, game developers are at it again, in an effort to drum up interest in their latest titles. One such developer is Konami, which has a number of games in the works, the most significant of which is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Konami will be debuting new gameplay footage from The Phantom Pain at Gamescom, along with a new trailer for fans to feast on. Those in attendance at Gamescom will also be able to engage in a playable demo of the game's "A Hero's Way" mission.

Moving back to the new gameplay footage, Konami has said that it will detail the Mother Base element of MGSV: TPP, showcasing building options and customisation choices gamers can make in-game. The new video will also explain the game's FOB (Forward Operating Base), where gamers can create additional bases across the globe, in order to manage newly captured resources.

As such, this new gameplay footage will focus less on the story aspect of the game we've seen to date, but rather the online multiplayer modes that gamers will be able to get stuck into.

Konami will be streaming its Gamescom event live tomorrow (5 August) on its YouTube channel from 21:00 onwards, but till then, click on The Phantom Pain's E3 2014 trailer below.
