LG introduces V-lineup with new V10, sporting two displays and selfie cams
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 1 October 2015 | Categories: newsIt looks like this is going to be a busy week for LG. The South Korean manufacturer was on hand at Google's Nexus event to showcase their 5.2" Nexus 5X earlier in the week, but now it has detailed a new offering all its own. Named the V10, this new dual display sporting smartphone is one of the first in a lineup of V-series devices that LG deems more premium.
As such, the faux-aluminium plastic look of yesteryear is done away with, in favour of better materials. This probably means that real aluminium will be introduced. It's also quite a peculiar looking device given its conspicuous absence of curves, which LG has been a big fan of recent years. That said, based on the exterior, the V10 very much looks like LG simply straightened out the G4 a bit, and added a few more bells and whistles.
Doubling up
We say this, because the internal configuration for this smartphone is quite similar to the G4. It features the same 3000 mAh battery, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor (clocked speed unknown) and 16 MP on the rear. Essentially, the only differences lie up front. The 5.7" display is QHD in quality and works much like you'd expect from a flagship Android device. The secondary display however is smaller, and sits just above the 5.7" one, and will allow users to quickly actions tasks and glance at info, according to LG.
The other intriguing aspect is the integration of two selfie cameras, which should set Instagramers' tails wagging. Each of the front facing cameras touts 5 MP, with a 120 degree field of view on offer for one of them and 80 degrees on the other. The full extent of how LG plans to use this is not known at this stage, but will most likely come to light later today.
Tune in tomorrow for the big reveal. Shot on 🙊 https://t.co/O1e4jVeJx8
